Ms. DeRosa has a Master's Degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and 15 plus years of media experience at AOL, VH1 and Comedy Central. Her understanding of the cultural and societal impacts of communication technologies along with her experience as a mom inspired the development of her first workshop on parenting in the digital age.
Denise founded Cyber Sensible in 2015 to provide online safety and digital citizenship advice to organizations, families, parents, youth and schools. She believes in the importance of digital literacy education for all. She is dedicated to empowering her clients with the tools needed to embrace digital technologies in meaningful, creative, and positive ways. Denise focuses her discussions on practical ways to both manage and capitalize on technology with internet safety tips, lessons in healthy tech habits, social media strategies and digital reputation management.
Her guiding principle is in helping others find digital balance in a tech heavy world.

Denise has spent her entire adult career in media and new media - from internships at music radio to working at MTV Networks and later AOL. She received her Master of Arts Degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University. The interdisciplinary program provided her a foundation for understanding the cultural impacts of new technologies on society, relationships, identity, representation, art and politics. Raising three kids of her own in the age of the smartphone brought the challenges home. This led her to create her first workshop designed for parents struggling to keep up with what their kids experience online. From there she launched Cyber Sensible and continues to create and develop new workshops to address the rapidly changing digital landscape.
Denise has devoted her entire career to media. After college she worked at MTV Networks. From there she received her M.A. in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University. She then worked for AOL as Program Manager for their Kids Only channel. Denise has a full understanding and knowledge of how media, technology and communication systems impact our culture, politics, art, music, social norms and relationships. She has studied the effects and effectiveness of media messaging from both practical business and philosophical perspectives.
When she became a stay home mom she fully realized how different audiences (namely children, tweens and teens) are influenced by near constant media messages. This led her to launch the first Cyber Sensible workshop for parents. As a mom, she can relate to the struggles of other parents. And as a mother to 3 kids, she understands how to make a connection and speak with (not lecture to) students of all ages. The workshops are designed for audience participation in a relaxed, calming but effective approach to the challenges.
Learning how to use technology appropriately is about reminding ourselves of the people behind the screens. That is why our workshops are conversations and not lectures. Ultimately, we will work together so you are confident in your ability to be safe and productive online.
