People Are Saying...

Denise DeRosa delivered a practical, timely and wise presentation to our parents. She understands that parents and educators need to mentor children in this area just as we guide them on other issues. Her advice is user-friendly, practical and engaging. We are so appreciative that she addressed our parent community.

Denise, of Cyber Sensible, did a wonderful job of presenting and explaining to parents the world of social media that engages our teenagers. She explained how the various apps work, which apps should be avoided, and how to adjust privacy and safety settings for the ones they use. Her common sense approach emphasized the need for using good parenting skills to create communication channels between parent and teens to ensure that missteps are avoided, practices that are inappropriate, and handling of how many friends are allowed.  Her sound, practical advice was to empower our teenagers to use social media responsibly, monitor and regulate their use and understand how to use social media to build a positive profile that will be useful when applying to colleges and future employers.

We can’t thank Denise enough for talking to our family about how to be a smart user of smart technology.  My 12 and 14 year old both learned a lot about making good choices now before it’s too late.  I wish all parents and their kids could have the opportunity to listen to Denise talk about being cyber sensible!  It’s invaluable!!

Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge at Community NETwork eSTEAM Summit. Your service touched the lives of nearly 60 young adults who reminded us why we started on this journey and further motivated us to take it to the next step. This event could not have been as successful without your help and we hope you will join us again.

The
Digital Parenting for 21st Century Families seminar that Denise presented at the Howard County Library System was thoroughly enlightening and educational. Denise expertly defined what parents should be on the look out for as well as what they might not need to worry about so much, thoughtfully answered all of our questions, and provided a wealth of excellent advice on managing the use of technology in the home.

I thought Wednesday went very well.  I’ve had parents tell me how much they enjoyed the discussion and how much they learned.  Others told me they felt your manner was very approachable and they thought it was perfect for our community.  So thank you!
