Practical Advice for Parenting in the Digital Age
Guide your kids to develop safe, savvy and ethical digital skills

Parents today face an enormous challenge as we raise kids who are more tech savvy and comfortable using digital communications and social media than we are. There has been a fundamental shift in the way kids communicate today that previous generations of parents have not had to cope with. The good news is that you do not need to be a tech expert to parent effectively online. I'll provide some key tips and actionable advice to help parents safely manage tech use in their home. It is not the technology that gets us in trouble, but how we use it. Kids (and some adults) need to be taught how to employ technology in meaningful and positive ways.

Teens Online: Be a Smart User of Smart Tech
Learn safe, savvy and ethical online skills to become a good digital citizen.

Youth today are connecting in ways we could not have dreamed of when we were their age. They can connect and communicate with people all over the globe. This is exciting but can also be dangerous. So before you enter the cyber world, it is a good idea to learn the fundamentals towards the responsible use of technology; for fun, entertainment, education, interaction and connection. We will discuss what it means to be a good digital citizen; how to develop a positive online reputation, how to employ the safety and privacy settings available; maintaining a healthy tech diet; avoiding online dangers; tech etiquette; and ways to capitalize on the opportunities tech provides. Denise cultivates an interactive discussion so the students can share their experiences online and brainstorm ideas for creating a more positive online experience for all.
